The ICM is equipped with user-neutral fiber-optic cabling. Direct connections can be set up between any of the rooms, to the exhibition halls and to OB-van connections via a central node. There is also a link to a Deutsche Telekom interchange point. so connections to external locations are also possible.

The fiber-optic cable network at the ICM consists of multimode fiber-optic cables (gradient index fibers) with 50/125 µm. The plugs used are E2000 (LSH) connectors. Upon request, adapter cables for ST and SC duplex connector systems can also be made available.
