Focal Point on Customer Contact: IMEX, Munich Destination Mart and EMIF
No. 2
March 2005

Focal Point on Customer Contact:
IMEX, Munich Destination Mart and EMIF

• The ICM team is presenting itself at the IMEX in Frankfurt from April 19 to 21
• Participants of the Munich Destination Mart can have a look at the ICM on site
• ICM is exhibiting at the EMIF in Brussels for the first time

Participation in the industry trade fair IMEX - incorporating Meetings made in Germany - is obligatory for the International Congress Center Munich (ICM). The marketing team of ICM is again presenting itself under the auspices of the German Convention Bureau (GCB) and in association with SevenCenters in Frankfurt from April 19 to 21. The marketing cooperation of the seven largest convention centers in Germany is working intensively to attract large events as the main objective of this trade fair exhibition. Potential customers will be invited under the motto of “Soccer World Cup 2006” to a non-binding round of games of table fussball as well as to more far-reaching discussions.

The ICM team is expanding direct customer contact at this year’s IMEX. In the name of the complete SevenCenters team, ICM invited a group of 20 potential customers to participate in the trade fair. The visit to the trade fair as well as the stay in Frankfurt are free of charge for the “hosted buyers,” but they are obligated to attend a specific number of events at IMEX in return. “The program is not only profitable for the hosted buyers, but we also profit as hosts from this, because there is hardly a more effective measure for creating customer loyalty,” Elke Mülhause, Marketing and Sales Manager in ICM, knows from experience.

In addition to the hosted buyers, they were able to convince 25 top customers from the Frankfurt region to participate in the evening event of SevenCenters to refresh their contacts to the German congress scene. “The intensive contact to the approximately 40 highly skilled representatives from companies, institutes and associations – on one hand via the Hosted Buyer program, and on the other hand via our evening event – is the best prerequisite for the trade fair to be successful for us,” Edgar Hirt, ICM Director, summarized.

Directly following the IMEX from April 22 to 24, 2005, the participants of Munich Destination Mart, the three-day marketing event of the Munich Tourism Agency, will have the opportunity to have a look around the ICM. Approximately 100 top decision-makers from the national and international convention, incentive and event industry will have the chance to become convinced of the numerous advantages of the Munich Congress Center on site.

Another trade fair, in which ICM is participating, is the European Meeting Industry Fair (EMIF) in Brussels on May 11 and 12, 2005. “The EMIF represents the launch of our marketing activities in Brussels,” according to Elke Mülhause. “To conquer the markets of the Benelux countries, we will carry out further events in Brussels in collaboration with the SevenCenters and the Munich Tourism Agency.”

About the International Congress Center Munich
ICM, the International Congress Center Munich, is one of the leading destinations in Germany and Europe today thanks to its modern architecture and facilities. Due to its location directly adjacent to the New Munich Trade Fair (Messe München), ICM provides pioneering possibilities of designing areas for congress and event organizers.
As an independent profit center of the Messe München GmbH, the International Congress Center Munich successfully canvasses for its own customers on the German and European congress and conference market. At the same time, ICM serves as a platform for scientific supporting programs and congresses for separate events at the New Munich Trade Fair.
